48+ people have died in ICE custody since January 2025. At least 16 in 2026 alone, including a 19-year-old in a Florida jail, a man at Adelanto whose death prompted the Mexican government to demand accountability, a Vietnamese immigrant at Miami Correctional Center in Indiana (April 1), and a Mexican man found unresponsive at Winn Correctional Center in Louisiana (April 11). December 2025 was the deadliest month on record (7 deaths).

TORTURE Senators Ossoff and Durbin launched investigation into "Alligator Alcatraz" (Everglades tent facility) after allegations of detainees confined in a cage called "the box" -- held in stress positions, hands and feet shackled, in direct sunlight, denied food and water. DHS missed the April 6 response deadline with no public answer.

KILLED ON U.S. STREETS

2 Americans killed by federal agents during Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis (3,789 arrests). Renee Good, 37, a mother of three, killed Jan 7. Alex Pretti, 37, a VA hospital ICU nurse, shot while filming agents on Jan 24 -- ruled homicide by the Hennepin County medical examiner. DOJ opened a civil rights probe into Pretti's death but excluded career civil rights prosecutors from the investigation.
